Waipu Cove to Langs Beach
A beautiful and historic tour in one of Whangarei's most significant areas. This tour has a bit of local flavour, some geology and some of the best-kept secret views Whangarei has to offer.This tour takes us south of Whangarei to Waipu Cove and Langs Beach. After picking you up from one of our three pick up locations, we head south to Mangawhai to visit one Whangarei's many farmers markets. Here you will find local characters, delicious food, artisan products and souvenirs aplenty! After shopping around for an hour, grab your coffee and jump back in the van to head back to Waipu Cove where the tour starts. This beautiful walk takes along the southern coast cliff tops, where we have amazing geological formations, stunning views of Whangarei Heads peninsula and some tiny private beaches that are only accessible on this walk. Along the way we will stop for photo opportunities and some local history and interesting information about the area. After two hours we arrive at Lang's Beach, the perfect place for a fresh hot lunch, using local produce and ingredients. Here we can relax on the beach to let lunch digest before jumping back in the van to head back to Waipu. Our last stop on this tour is at local brewery McLeod's, for a tasty beverage before we head back to Whangarei. This tour can be wet and muddy so we recommend you bring proper walking shoes that you don't mind getting dirty. Sandy Bay to Whananaki
An intrepid trek through cliff tops, private beaches, farmland, native bush, pine forest and estuary mudflats. This tour has it all!Our Sandy Bay to Whananaki tour takes us on a journey through the best the Tutukaka coast has to offer. After picking you up from one of the three pick up points in Whangarei we whisk you out to Sandy Bay to start our tour! Showcasing the best views of the Poor Knights islands and some gorgeous private beaches, you may want to stop on the walk for a swim. As our journey continues we make our way to the Capitaine Bougainville memorial, a monument commemorating the lives of the 16 people who lost their lives in 1975 when the cargo vessel sunk off the coast of Whananaki. After admiring the stunning 360' views at this beautiful setting we continue on to Whananaki to cross the longest footbridge in the Southern Hemisphere. Once arriving at Whananaki a hot lunch awaits us at the reserve, using only the freshest local produce and ingredients. You may want to grab a souvenir or an icecream at the local shop before we head home to Whangarei! Please bring decent walking shoes, swim wear, a towel and sunblock. The walking component of this tour is not difficult, but we will be walking for up to 4 hours.
