Daintree Rainforest Night Walk from Cape Tribulation
Experience the majestic beauty of the Daintree Rainforest on a nighttime walking tour with an expert guide. Learn about the animals and plants of this ancient Australian forest as you walk along dirt trails and look for a variety of snakes, small mammals, insects, spiders and more. Enjoy the experience of spending time in one of the most complex rain forest ecosystems on earth with a knowledgeable guide. Even kiddos, ages eight and older, can join this small-group tour limited to 11 people.Your tour starts with pickup from your Cape Tribulation hotel or a central location in town. Travel in a comfortable minivan shuttle to a swathe of privately owned land in the Daintree Rainforest to meet your guide. Receive a safety briefing and flashlight before you set off with your guide into the ancient rain forest. Throughout your tour, your guide shares extensive knowledge of the animal and plant life in this biologically rich forest, which has remained much the same for more than 120 million years. With the trained eyes of your guide, you get to see much more than you would on your own. Feel free to ask any questions that you may have. Each night the cast of critters varies, however spiders, sleeping birds and rainforest dragons make frequent appearances. You may also see amethystine pythons, Australia’s largest snake, slithering around. (They're hard to miss at 27-feet-long). Your guide may ask you to switch off your flashlight in order to see the blinking light of fireflies and glowing lichens. At the end of your tour, you are returned to your Cape Tribulation hotel.Please note: Expect to walk along natural trails over uneven ground; a moderate level of fitness and comfortable walking shoes are recommended. Sunset and Stargazing Adventure Cruise
Departing on Monday's and Friday's from the picturesque Port Douglas marina, our sunset and stargazing cruise combines a beautiful sunset with wildlife spotting and a stargazing session of our brilliant north Queensland night sky. Our adventure cruises are designed to do something no other Port Douglas tour has offered before, taking you on a journey in time and place in a magical and mystical environment. Tours depart at 6:30 pm and last approximately 1 hour and 45 cruises. Whether you have an interest in the environment and astronomy or just want a relaxing evening cruise, these trips are not to be missed!Our sunset cruise departs every Monday and Friday from the Crystalbrook Superyacht Marina in Port Douglas. Boarding commences at 6:30 pm for a 6:45 pm departure and the boat returns to the marina by 8:30 pm. You cruise begins with a slow journey past the historic Sugar Wharf and an opportunity to watch the setting sun slowly start to sink behind the Great Diving Range and Mossman Gorge. As the light continues to fade, you will cruise up the mangrove-lined Dickson inlet, looking for crocodiles and waterbirds, whilst taking in the pastel pinks and oranges of an Aussie sunset. The waterway is incredibly peaceful. Once the sun has set and the night-sky has come alive, your guide will treat you to an amazing stargazing show. We use licenced military grade, green lasers to point out celestial wonders. We might even be able to point you out a satellite - and tell you what it does using a special space app! The beautiful star-studded sky is a time machine, the moon’s light takes 1.3 seconds to get to us, the sun, our nearest star, over 8 minutes.
