An up close experience of some of NZ native species that are bred for release and the conservation efforts to protect them in the wild. The Koru Tour will be an interesting and entertaining way to learn more about conservation in New Zealand.As tours are exclusive and limited (for the benefit of our breeding native species at the Wildlife Centre) times and dates can vary.  Usually we run a tour daily at 9.30am and 16.00pm but this will need to be confirmed, please specify what time you like to book.Upon entrance of Smith's Holiday Park you can park your car on the left side. Please arrive 5 minutes before tour starts. You will be picked up from the parking area.After a hot drink and a narrated video you will have a look in the enclosures and a nocturnal building. The whole tour is guided by the founder of the centre.

After about an hour of traveling through Queen Charlotte Sound, you reach Ship Cove where your boat docks. Then all you have to do is sit back and relax as you cruise the idyllic Queen Charlotte Sound for approx. 1 hour. Take in views of The Sounds that can't be seen by road or on a Cook Strait crossing, until you reach your drop off destination, Resolution Bay.   Attracting walkers of all ages our well-maintained track and Marlborough’s climate allows for good year-round walking conditions. The gentle walk from Resolution Bay toward Furneaux Lodge traverses native forest over a low saddle offering a spectacular vantage point for the photographer. The gradual descent curls along the shoreline to the historic Lodge. This 10.5 km independent walk is designed to suit all fitness levels. Once you reach Furneaux Lodge, you are welcome to rest, explore the grounds or even enjoy a glass of wine at the picturesque Furneaux Lodge (time permitting). If you have limited time in the area but are keen to experience the brilliance that the Marlborough Sounds has to offer, then this half-day guided sea kayaking tour is the trip for you. The half-day trip is based in the Grove Arm of the Queen Charlotte Sound where you can expect to see a variety of sea and forest birdlife and possible sightings of rays, seals, little blue penguins, dolphins and if you are super lucky – Orca!This trip starts with a safety briefing at the base on the Corner of Queen Charlotte Drive and Anakiwa Road which is approximately 15-minutes’ drive from Havelock or 30-minutes’ drive from Picton.  Once you have had your safety briefing, you will head down to Anakiwa Beach to begin you trip. Your trip will take place in the Grove Arm, the itinerary is fairly flexible on this trip as the weather plays a part. Enjoy a scenic afternoon boat cruise through Queen Charlotte Sound on a working mail boat that visits Ship Cove (1st Oct to 30th April) and several remote communities. You'll share the excitement of mail day as you travel on board the New Zealand Post Rural Delivery Service boat, which takes different routes through Marlborough Sounds to reach isolated hamlets. Hear stories about the people and history of the region from your captain as you experience the rhythm of life along the waterways of the South Island.Head to the waterfront in Picton to meet the mailboat for your 4-hour tour on Queen Charlotte Sound. Every trip starts along the routes detailed below by day of the week, then wraps up with a 15-minute stop at Ship Cove (1st Oct to 30th April). The visit to Ship Cove gives you a chance to disembark at the inlet where Captain Cook anchored his ship, The Endeavor, in 1770. Explore the beach and see a memorial to Captain Cook, several large Maori statues carved from wood, and informative displays about the island. Birds such as oyster catchers, weka, and paradise ducks can be spotted here as well. On Mondays and Thursdays, start by cruising through Queen Charlotte Sound to Kaipapa, a small cove in Kumototo Bay. Continue into Blackwood Bay to drop off mail, then pass a king salmon fish farm en route to Ruakaka Bay where the boat stops at a local residence. Then deliver mail to the Bay of Many Coves Resort and make a few more mail stops at Arapawa Island before pulling into Ship Cove.On Tuesdays and Fridays, the mail boat heads to Curious Cove and then the Tory Channel, traveling along one side past Te Pangu as far as Whekenui, where the Tory Channel enters Cook Strait. Return along the other side of the channel, making a few mail drops along the way, before heading to Ship Cove. Marlborough is home to some 45 cellar door wineries, all producing some of the country’s most vibrant and flavourful wines.This small group, maximum 12 passenger tour, departs from Picton with you guide on an informative and very scenic drive through Picton and Blenheim to Omaka and the wineries of the Marlborough Region.Your first stop is at the Omaka Aviation Heritage Museum which attracts visitors from around the world to see their impressive collection of early “flying machines” and WW1 and WW2 fighter aircraft. There will be time for some lunch at the museum’s café, if required. Within a short time you are exploring the shoreline, spotting wildlife and sea birds and learning about your surroundings. Your kayak tour concludes a few hours later at the small settlement of Anakiwa. Here you can don your tramping boots and backpack, get some instructions for the walk ahead and depart on your independent hike of the Queen Charlotte Track from Anakiwa to Mistletoe Bay. This section of the track passes through some of the nicest bush of the entire 70km track. The walk is around 3-4 hours (11km) of a moderate level. On your walk you can expect to see incredible Views, bush and beautiful beaches. At the conclusion of the Queen Charlotte Track, you walk down to Mistletoe Bay in time for collection by a water taxi at 4pm to return to Picton. An enjoyable boat ride with fantastic views back towards where you have spent your day.
