As the wind tends to drop late in the afternoon, you can observe some of the birds out and about looking for that last meal of the day, or flying down to the water bathing, before retiring for the night. Large saltwater crocodiles are often seen sun baking in the afternoon sun, tree snakes come out to the edge of the native hibiscus with Ulysses and Cairns Birdwing butterflies often flying over head. Watching hundreds of Cattle Egrets flying low over the water on their way down river to roost for the night, and the fragrance of some of the Native rainforest tree species flowering, (especially Ylang Ylang, Cananga odorata which tends to disperse their perfume late evening) all add to the river experience. You then finish your Daintree River birdwatching tour with some magical sunsets, (as with everything, it's up to Mother Nature... but then again Mother Nature has a special interest in the Daintree River).ItineraryThis is a typical itinerary for this productStop At: Daintree River Cruise Centre, Mossman - Daintree Rd, Daintree, Queensland 4873 AustraliaThe mighty Daintree River is the heart of the Daintree Region. Perfect for bird photography enthusiasts, our 3 hour private photography tour allows you to get up and close to your subject and take the time to get the right shot.Guided by an experienced bird watcher and photographer with an intimate knowledge of where to find target species.Light is everything in photography, and a private cruise allows us to concentrate on those parts of the river where the lighting is right and the subject is (hopefully) compliant. Our dedicated photography boat is a 5 metre Cairns Custom Craft, with a quiet 50hp Suzuki 4 stroke motor. It is stable, has a shallow draft and good maneuverability, allowing us to access parts of the Daintree River system unavailable to larger boats. We aim to put you in front of your subject at the right time of day and in the right light. The front of the boat has an open, flat deck allowing the use of tripods and unobstructed views of your subject. Start times for private tours are flexible, and we will contact you to discuss the best time of day for light and tides, as well as what fits with your schedule. We spend a minimum of 3hours on the river, allowing plenty of time to get the right shot.
